Welcome back, and welcome to those joining us for the first time. We're Coach Tim Jandro, Coach Steinmeyer and Coach Henning, and we are fired up for year two with Minnetonka Boys Golf. Last year was a great start. This year, we're building on it.
Here's everything you need to know heading into the season.
Important DatesPlayer Meeting -- Monday, March 16 | 3:00 PM | The Forum, Minnetonka High School The official first day of the season is March 16. Given that it'll be about 16 degrees that day, we won't be playing golf -- but we will be meeting. All players interested in trying out should be at this meeting. It'll be a good chance to connect before tryouts begin.
Parent-Athlete-Coach (PAC) Meeting -- Thursday, March 19 | 6:00 PM | The Port, Minnetonka High School This one is for players and families. We'll walk through the season schedule, tryout format, team rules, and answer questions. Plan to be there.
First Day of Tryouts -- Tentatively Monday, March 23 | Pioneer Creek Golf Club | Starting at 3:45 PM We'll send out a full tee time list within the next week or so. Keep an eye out for that.
Tryout FormatTryouts consist of three 9-hole rounds. We'll drop the highest score and use your best two to determine placement.
A few things to be clear about:
- If you don't routinely shoot below 45, it's going to be very difficult to make the team. We want to be upfront about that.
- If you shoot over 55 in any round, you will not be able to finish tryouts.
- If you don't break 45 in either of your first two rounds, you will not play the third round.
We want guys who are ready to compete. Come prepared!
Team Structure This YearWe have some news to share on this front, and we want to be straight with you. We currently do not have a Developmental League coach, and without one, we can't run the program the right way. Rather than do it halfway, we've made the decision to expand the Varsity and JV rosters from 16 to 20 players total and not field a Developmental team this season. We know that's disappointing for some players, and we don't take that lightly.
If you are interested in coaching the Developmental League, we want to hear from you. It is a paid position. Please reach out to us directly.
A Word on IntegrityWe have a zero-tolerance policy for cheating. That means any player found cheating during tryouts or the season will be removed immediately -- no second chances, no exceptions. Golf is a game built on honesty. We take that seriously, and we expect every player on this team to as well.
Action Items -- Do These Now (If you haven't)1. Register on EduTrack All players must register through the school and pay the Activity Fee before tryouts begin. If your son doesn't make the team, the fee will be refunded. Register here:

2. Join the Stack Team App We're using the Stack Team App this year for all team communication -- schedules, updates, tee times, and more. It's simple to use and keeps everything in one place. Parents and guardians can be added to receive all notifications, so you're never out of the loop. Sign up here:

We genuinely love this program and the opportunity to coach it. See you on March 16.
Go Skippers.
